Hi my name is Julie Pavlovic and I am the current TNA national president. It is only fitting that the president be the guinea pig for the first member’s profile to be posted on the newly refurbished TNA website. (Maybe there is a prize in this????)
I am a Clinical Nurse Consultant with the Victorian Liver Transplant Unit and have worked in liver transplantation for 17 years. Working my way through most areas of transplantation- the ward, intensive care and now as a post transplant coordinator has given me an inside view of the journey our patients take once listed for transplantation.
My other duties include clinical trials and recipient transplant coordination. My goal for the liver transplant unit, in Victoria, is to see the introduction of Nurse Practitioner- hopefully not in the too distant future- stay tuned. But apart from work I love to travel and have visited many intriguing and unique places around the world. Many of you know I also like to shop- I have an ever increasing shoe collection! Amelda Marcos- eat your hear out.
But on a professional and serious note- I love looking after transplant patients and getting to know them and their families. As you all know, we look after them for life and often build strong bonds with them – being invited to christenings, weddings and funerals. It is a close bond that I think is unique to the care of transplant patients.
